The council brown bin in Wirral is an opt-in, paid subscription — £63.50 for the first bin in 2026–27 and £34.80 for each additional one, making it one of the more expensive schemes in the region. The three Wirral tips — Bidston (Wallasey Bridge Road), Clatterbridge (Mount Road) and West Kirby (Greenbank Road), run by Veolia for the Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority — accept household garden waste free of charge by car. But you still do the cutting, the bagging and the repeated trips yourself, and visits in a van or with a large trailer need a booked appointment, capped at twelve per year.
